Tribe, Village Sue In Washington Federal Court To Stop Collection Of Taxes

Mealey's (June 24, 2015, 9:58 AM EDT) -- SEATTLE — The Tulalip Tribes and its political subdivision the Consolidated Borough of Quil Ceda Village sued the State of Washington and Snohomish County on June 12 in federal court, seeking to stop the imposition and collection of taxes on activities and properties in the village, which precludes the tribe from imposing tribal taxes (The Tulalip Tribes, et al. v. Washington State Department of Revenue Director Vikki Smith, et al., No. 15-940, W.D. Wash.).
