Appeals Court Finds ACA Fixed Indemnity Rules Overstep Powers

(July 7, 2016, 10:41 AM EDT) -- WASHINGTON, D.C. — The government overstepped its bounds in changing the guidelines under which fixed indemnity plans may qualify as excepted benefits in response to the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act (ACA), a federal appeals court held July 1 (Central United Life Inc., et al. v. Sylvia Burwell, et al., No. 15-5310, D.C. Cir.; 2016 U.S. App. LEXIS 12124).
