California Federal Judge: CAFA Exception Applies In Newspaper Subscription Suit
(June 16, 2016, 9:54 AM EDT) -- SACRAMENTO, Calif. — A California federal judge on June 7 sent a class suit accusing a newspaper owner of deceptive subscription practices back to state court, finding that the Class Action Fairness Act’s (CAFA) home state exception applies (Joseph Cortez, et al. v. McClatchy Newspapers, Inc., et al., No. 15-1891, E.D. Calif.; 2016 U.S. Dist. LEXIS 74315).
