Irish Amicus To 2nd Circuit: Subpoena For Microsoft Emails Violates EU Law

Mealey's (June 8, 2016, 12:29 PM EDT) -- NEW YORK — The organization Digital Rights Ireland (DRI) on June 6 filed a letter as amicus curiae in the Second Circuit U.S. Court of Appeals, stating that the U.S. government’s subpoena requiring Microsoft Corp. to produce emails that are located in an Irish server violates laws, agreements and regulations of the European Union (EU) (In the Matter of a Warrant to Search a Certain E-Mail Account Controlled and Maintained by Microsoft Corp.[Microsoft v. United States], No. 14-2985, 2nd Cir.).
