Executives Say Insurer Owes Duty To Defend Banks’ Claims Regarding Loans

(June 8, 2016, 10:58 AM EDT) -- NEW ORLEANS — Two executives have appealed to the Fifth Circuit U.S. Court of Appeals a ruling by a district court that their insurer had no duty to defend them in an underlying lawsuit brought by banks that sued the executives for misrepresenting the company’s financial status before the approval of the loans (Markel American Insurance Company v. Huibert Verbeek, et al., No. 15-51099, 5th Cir.).
