California Assembly Passes Bill Permitting Immigrant Enrollment In ACA Exchange

(June 1, 2016, 2:19 PM EDT) -- SACRAMENTO, Calif. — The California Assembly on May 31 passed legislation seeking federal permission to allow immigrants, including those living illegally in the United States, access to the state’s Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act (ACA) health insurance exchange.

The legislation, SB-10, titled “Health Care Coverage: Immigration Status,” passed on a 55-20 vote and includes an urgency clause, which ensures that the measure takes effect as quickly as possible after passage.
