Washington Federal Judge Finds Consumer Claims Preempted By ERISA

Mealey's (May 27, 2016, 6:48 PM EDT) -- SEATTLE — A Washington state federal judge on May 19 dismissed several claims against Group Health Cooperative (GHC) because they are preempted by the Employee Retirement Income Security Act and granted in part GHC’s motion to dismiss the class action complaint (Karen Hansen, et al. v. Group Health Cooperative, No. 2:15cv1436, W.D. Wash.; 2016 U.S. Dist. LEXIS 66191).
