Jury Orders D.R. Horton To Pay $9.6M Over Construction Defects

(May 24, 2016, 12:37 PM EDT) -- JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — A Florida jury on May 19 ordered D.R. Horton Inc. to pay $9.6 million over construction defects at the Heron’s Landing condominium complex, finding that the builder was negligent and knowingly violated the Florida Building Code (Heron’s Landing Condominium Association of Jacksonville Inc. v. D.R. Horton Inc., No. 2013-CA-005882, Fla. Cir., Duval Co).

Following a 38-day trial, the six-person jury found that the home builder should replace the stucco, roofs and windows of the 240-unit development.
