Viacom Tells 3rd Circuit That High Court Spokeo Ruling Defeats VPPA Class Action

Mealey's (May 24, 2016, 10:10 AM EDT) -- PHILADELPHIA — In a May 20 letter to the Third Circuit U.S. Court of Appeals, Viacom Inc. says that the U.S. Supreme Court’s May 16 ruling in Spokeo Inc. v. Robins provides further support to affirm a lower court’s ruling that dismissed a putative class action against it under the Video Privacy Protection Act (VPPA) due to lack of standing under Article III of the U.S. Constitution (In Re: Nickelodeon Consumer Privacy Litigation, No. 15-1441, 3rd Cir.).
