Foreclosure Action Against Tribe’s Office Belongs In State Court, Judge Says

Mealey's (May 13, 2016, 2:34 PM EDT) -- RUTLAND, Vt. — A Vermont federal judge on May 10 sent back to state court a lawsuit filed by a couple seeking to foreclose on a mortgage under a commercial promissory note for property conveyed to the Narragansett Indian Tribe, finding that the action does not present a federal question (George Feller, et al. v. Narragansett Indian Tribal Historic Preservation Office, No. 5:16-cv-61, D. Vt.; 2016 U.S. Dist. LEXIS 61475).
