Judge: Website, Seminars Confer Jurisdiction In ‘Brainspotting’ Trademark Suit
Mealey's (May 12, 2016, 2:08 PM EDT) -- NEW YORK — A defendant’s “highly interactive” website, coupled with the fact that she conducted seminars and engaged in marketing activities in New York, are sufficient to establish jurisdiction in the state, a New York federal judge ruled May 10, denying a motion to dismiss a lawsuit over alleged infringement of the “Brainspotting” trademark (David Grand v. Lisa Schwarz, No. 1:15-cv-08779, S.D. N.Y.; 2016 U.S. Dist. LEXIS 61606).
