United States Sues City Over Use Of Utility Lines On Tribal Land
(May 11, 2016, 5:19 PM EDT) -- ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. — The United States, on behalf of a Native American tribe, sued a New Mexico city in federal court May 6, alleging that it is trespassing on tribal lands by continuing to use water and sewer lines across the tribe’s reservation without renewing rights of way that expired years ago (United States of America v. City of Española, No. 16-cv-391, D. N.M.).
