Oregon County Ballot Measure Would Ban Commercial Bottled Water Production

(May 9, 2016, 3:43 PM EDT) -- HOOD RIVER, Ore. — Voters in Hood River County, Ore., will be asked May 17 if the county charter should be amended to prohibit commercial bottled water production, a measure that would affect bottled water operations proposed by Nestle S.A. in the Cascade Locks area of the county.

The ballot question asks if the county charter should be amended to prohibit commercial production of bottled water and the transportation of such water. Commercial production is defined as more than 1,000 gallons of water a day....
