Federal Magistrate Judge Denies Discovery Request, Says Burden Outweighs Benefit
Mealey's (May 6, 2016, 12:46 PM EDT) -- DENVER — A Colorado federal judge on April 21 denied a disability claimant’s motion to compel additional information regarding an insurer’s use of a third-party company to obtain medical opinions on the basis that the burden placed on the insurer to produce the requested information far outweighs any benefit to the claimant (Christopher M. Rickaby v. Hartford Life and Accident Insurance Co., No. 15-813, D. Col.; 2016 U.S. Dist. LEXIS 53485).
