Judge Says That Without Response, He Will Summarily Appoint Arbitration Umpire

(May 2, 2016, 1:17 PM EDT) -- MADISON, Wis. — A federal judge in Wisconsin on April 20 warned an insurer that if it does not respond to a reinsurer’s petition asking the court to appoint an umpire in an arbitration, then the court will grant summary judgment to the reinsurer and appoint an umpire (Employers Insurance of Wausau f/d/a Employers Insurance of Wausau a Mutual Company v.
