NFL Settlement Objectors Seek En Banc Rehearing Of Settlement Approval

(May 2, 2016, 12:48 PM EDT) -- PHILADELPHIA — A group of former National Football League (NFL) players involved in the NFL concussion multidistrict litigation on April 28 asked the Third Circuit U.S. Court of Appeals for en banc rehearing of the approval of a settlement between the league and a class of former players, saying that class counsel was “disarmed” in its negotiations with the NFL after the district court said the science underlying chronic traumatic encephalopathy (CTE) was in its infancy (In re: NFL Players Concussion Injury Litigation, Nos. 15-2206, et al., 3rd Cir.)....
