PTO Takes Trademark Registration Ban Case To U.S. Supreme Court
Mealey's (April 28, 2016, 2:01 PM EDT) -- WASHINGTON, D.C. — The U.S. Patent and Trademark Office (PTO) on April 20 petitioned for the U.S. Supreme Court to review and overturn a ruling that declared unconstitutional the agency’s ban on “disparaging” trademarks (Michelle K. Lee, Under Secretary of Commerce for Intellectual Property and Director, U.S. Patent and Trademark Office v. Simon Shiao Tam, No. 15-1293, U.S. Sup.).
