New York Denies Permit For Pipeline Transporting Fracked Gas From Pennsylvania

(April 27, 2016, 12:57 PM EDT) -- ALBANY, N.Y. — The New York State Department of Environmental Conservation (NYSDEC) on April 22 denied the application of Constitution Pipeline Co. LLC (CPC), which sought approval of an interstate pipeline that would have transported natural gas extracted through hydraulic fracturing in Pennsylvania into New York. The NYSDEC said the CPC did not supply sufficient information for the department to be “reasonably assured” that the state’s water quality standards would be met during construction and operation of the proposed pipeline.
