Contractor’s Employee Appeals Premises Owner Duty Ruling In Silicosis Case
Mealey's (April 26, 2016, 12:54 PM EDT) -- NEW ORLEANS — A man suffering from silicosis launched an appeal on April 21 from a Louisiana federal judge’s decision granting summary judgment to a premises owner on the grounds that it owed no duty to employees of independent contractors (Keith Roach v. Air Liquide America, et al., No. 12-3165, W.D. La.).
Keith Roach began working for painting and sandblasting companies that did work for PPG Industries Inc. in 1985. He began his career as a sandblaster helper and eventually became a journeyman sandblaster.
