Maryland Fracking Moratorium In Effect As Governor Decides Not To Veto Bill

Mealey's (June 18, 2015, 11:35 AM EDT) -- ANNAPOLIS, Md. — A Maryland bill establishing a moratorium on hydraulic fracturing until 2018 became law on May 29 when the governor decided not to veto it.

Senate Bill 409

The Maryland Senate passed Senate Bill (SB) 409 on April 6, and Gov. Larry Hogan had until May 29 to veto the measure.

The law establishes a moratorium on fracking until 2018, pending a report to the governor examining the scientific literature pertaining to the safety of fracking.
