Report: Modest Impact Nationally From UnitedHealth’s ACA Exchanges Exit

(April 20, 2016, 1:14 PM EDT) -- WASHINGTON, D.C. — UnitedHealth Group’s exit from Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act (ACA) could significantly affect some markets but would have a modest impact nationwide, according to an April 18 report from the Kaiser Family Foundation.

Assuming that UnitedHealth departs from all states, the move would leave 24 percent of U.S. counties with just one insurer, up from 7 percent, Kaiser reports.


It would also drop to 48 percent the number of counties with three or more insurers, down from 64 percent.
