UnitedHealth Announces Exit From Majority Of ACA Markets

(April 19, 2016, 1:04 PM EDT) -- WASHINGTON, D.C. — The nation’s largest health insurer confirmed during an April 19 earnings call that it will exit most of the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act (ACA) markets where it currently operates, leaving it with a footprint in only a handful of states.

UnitedHealth Group announced in December that expected losses of hundreds of millions of dollars in the ACA individual exchanges had caused it to consider leaving those markets.
