Report: ACA Enrollees Sicker, Costlier Than Employer-Based Enrollees

(April 19, 2016, 1:00 PM EDT) -- WASHINGTON, D.C. — Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act (ACA) enrollees appear to have higher rates of certain diseases, use more medical care and incur higher medical costs, a March 2016 report finds.

The Blue Cross Blue Shield report has found that individual market enrollees cost insurers 19 percent more than employer-based members in 2014 and 22 percent more in 2015.
