United States, 2 States Agree To Remove 4 Klamath River Dams

(April 7, 2016, 2:47 PM EDT) -- KLAMATH, Calif. — The federal government, Oregon and California on April 6 signed agreements to remove four hydroelectric dams on the Klamath River by 2020.

The state and federal governments also signed the 1016 Klamath Power and Facilities Agreement with irrigation districts and other parties to avoid potentially adverse financial and regulatory impacts associated with the return of fish runs to the Upper Klamath Basin once the dams are removed, according to a joint statement.
