Judge Dismisses ERISA Class Action Against Hartford, Family Dollar

(April 7, 2016, 1:45 PM EDT) -- NEW HAVEN, Conn. — A Connecticut federal judge on March 29 granted motions to dismiss a putative class action brought against a retailer and the provider of its employee life insurance plan, finding that the plaintiffs failed to plead any breach of fiduciary duties related to a purported premiums overcharging scheme under the Employee Retirement Income Security Act (Patrick Hannan, et al. v. The Hartford Financial Services Inc., et al., No. 3:15-cv-00395, D. Conn.; 2016 U.S. Dist. LEXIS 40914).
