Drone Owner Argues For Federal Jurisdiction Over Trespass, Declaratory Complaint

Mealey's (March 30, 2016, 2:50 PM EDT) -- LOUISVILLE, Ky. — Arguing that his drone was operating “within the sovereign navigable airspace of the United States” when it was shot down by a neighbor, the drone’s owner says in a March 25 brief opposing dismissal in Kentucky federal court that federal jurisdiction is appropriate because there is “a critical federal question” over “the balance between the protection of private property rights versus the safe navigation of federal airspace” (John David Boggs v. William H. Merideth, No. 3:16-cv-00006, W.D. Ky.).
