Government: Birth-Control Opt Out Protects Government Interests, Religious Rights
Mealey's (June 10, 2015, 9:50 AM EDT) -- OKLAHOMA CITY — Allowing religious groups to opt out of the contraceptive mandate in the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act (ACA) allows the government to pursue compelling government interests and does not impose a substantial burden on those groups, the government and its amici curiae told the 10th Circuit U.S. Court of Appeals in recent briefs (Southern Nazarene University, et al. v. Kathleen Sebelius, et al., No. 14-6026, 10th Cir.).
