Judge Dismisses Woman’s Claims Against Home Builder’s Employee Over Excess Dirt

(March 25, 2016, 11:19 AM EDT) -- COLUMBIA, S.C. — A woman claiming that a newly constructed home she purchased from Beazer Homes Corp. contained excessive levels of dirt under the carpet that exacerbated her previously disclosed respiratory condition cannot pursue claims against a company employee, a federal judge in South Carolina ruled March 21, because the employee owed no duty to the plaintiff (Jennifer L. Champy v. Beazer Homes Corporation, et al., No. 15-cv-04098-MBS, D. S.C.; 2016 U.S. Dist. LEXIS 36579).
