MDL Judge Dismisses Claims Against Chinese New Building Materials Group
(March 25, 2016, 8:28 AM EDT) -- NEW ORLEANS — The federal judge in Louisiana overseeing litigation stemming from allegedly defective drywall made in China on March 9 dismissed the plaintiffs’ claims against China New Building Materials Group (CNBM Group) after finding that the company is entitled to a presumption of immunity under the Foreign Sovereign Immunities Act (FSIA) (In re: Chinese-Manufactured Drywall Products Liability Litigation, MDL 2047, Case No. 09-02047, E.D. La.).
