Los Angeles Jury Awards $5.2 Million In Iranian Asbestos Exposure Case
(March 24, 2016, 1:45 PM EDT) -- LOS ANGELES — Parties to a mesothelioma suit settled prior to a jury awarding punitive damages but just days after the jury’s Feb. 11 verdict awarding $5,204,048 to a man and his wife for asbestos exposure in Iran, according to the docket (Farid Malek and Mary Malek v. Blackmer Pump Co., et al., No. BC580695, Calif. Super., Los Angeles Co.).
Fluor Corp. and two subsidiaries, Fluor Enterprises Inc. and Middle East Fluor were the sole remaining defendants.
