Federal Judge Finds Res Judicata Bars Homeowner’s Unfair Practices Lawsuit

(March 22, 2016, 2:32 PM EDT) -- SAN FRANCISCO — The doctrine of res judicata precludes a homeowner’s lawsuit against mortgage companies for alleged unfair deceptive practices with regard to a mortgage loan, a California federal judge ruled March 18 (Jon C. Amedee v. CitiMortgage, Inc., et al., No. 15-03356, N.D. Calif.; 2016 U.S. Dist. LEXIS 35548).
