FDA Proposes Banning Most Powdered Medical Gloves To Eliminate Risk

(March 22, 2016, 10:14 AM EDT) -- SILVER SPRING, Md. — The Food and Drug Administration on March 21 announced a proposal to ban most powdered medical gloves in the United States due to the risk that aerosolized powder presents to health care providers and patients.

In a press release, the FDA said powdered gloves “pose an unreasonable and substantial risk of illness” to the exposed population. It said the risk cannot be corrected through new or updated labeling.
