Professor Seeks U.S. High Court Review On Copyright Ownership Of A Derivative
Mealey's (March 17, 2016, 3:43 PM EDT) -- WASHINGTON, D.C. — A professor in a Feb. 23 petition asks the U.S. Supreme Court to decide whether “copyright ownership of a derivative can be established without demonstrating independent creation, the existence of the derivative or any creativity of the derivative with respect to the prior work” in a dispute with the university over course notes (Gregory E. Rahn and Genemetrix, LLC v. Board of Trustees of Northern Illinois University, et al., No. 15-1106, U.S. Sup.).
