Class Suit Over Tax Refunds Offsets Tossed By D.C. Federal Judge

(March 17, 2016, 10:13 AM EDT) -- WASHINGTON, D.C. — A District of Columbia federal judge on March 15 dismissed a class complaint against several federal government entities involved in the alleged interception of tax refunds and application of those funds to alleged overpayments by the U.S. Social Security Administration (SSA), finding that the plaintiffs’ claims are now moot (Tina Heard, et al. v. United States Social Security Administration, et al., No. 15-230, D. D.C.; 2016 U.S. Dist. LEXIS 32748).
