Mealey's (March 15, 2016, 2:13 PM EDT) -- BOSTON — In what it called a case that “reflects the tension between” the Communications Decency Act (CDA) and the Trafficking Victims Protection Reauthorization Act (TVPRA), a First Circuit U.S. Court of Appeals panel on March 14 affirmed a trial court’s finding that sex trafficking and related claims against the operator of a classified advertisement website failed under protections of the CDA (Jane Doe No. 1, et al. v. Backpage.com LLC, et al., No. 15-1724, 1st Cir.; 2016 U.S. App. LEXIS 4671).
