Cherokee Nation Says Its Case Against Drug Companies Should Proceed

(March 10, 2016, 8:30 AM EST) -- TAHLEQUAH, Okla. — The Cherokee Nation asked the tribe’s Supreme Court March 4 to dismiss a petition in error filed by pharmaceutical companies challenging a tribal judge’s refusal to dismiss the nation’s product liability claims that the diabetes drug Actos caused bladder cancer in tribal members (Takeda Pharmaceuticals USA, Inc., et al. v. The Cherokee Nation, et al., No. SC-16-02, Cherokee Sup.).
