United States, Tribe, Amici Oppose Appeal Of Native American Water Rights Verdict

Mealey's (February 25, 2016, 8:57 PM EST) -- SAN FRANCISCO — The United States and a Native American tribe on Feb. 12 told the Ninth Circuit U.S. Court of Appeals that it should reject a verdict appeal by two water districts that argued that the Agua Caliente Band of Cahuilla Indians does not have reserved rights to groundwater under its California reservation (Agua Caliente Band of Cahuilla Indians, et al. v. Coachella Valley Water District, et al., No. 15-55896, 9th Cir.).
