Bankruptcy Judge Focuses Asbestos Claimants’ Probe On Budd’s Uninsured Claims

(February 25, 2016, 12:00 PM EST) -- CHICAGO — In response to a request by the asbestos claimants’ committee in the Chapter 11 case of The Budd Co. Inc. to investigate a $300 million settlement between the debtor and its parent company and the deal’s release of potential fraudulent concealment claims against the parent, an Illinois federal bankruptcy judge on Feb. 10 ordered the committee to produce a list of asbestos claimants for which the debtor does not have insurance coverage (In re: The Budd Company, Inc., No. 14-11873, N.D.
