Cherokee High Court Asked To Decide Worker’s Arbitration Filing Fee Dispute

Mealey's (February 11, 2016, 8:32 AM EST) -- TAHLEQUAH, Okla. — A tribal district court erred in finding that the late payment of a $100 filing fee for an arbitration request in a workers’ compensation dispute between a casino employee and the casino “substantially complied” with the Cherokee Nation Workers’ Compensation Act (CNWCA), the casino and its insurer tell the Cherokee Supreme Court in a Jan. 13 petition in error (Carey Baker v. Cherokee Nation Entertainment, et al., No. SC-16-01, Cherokee Nation Sup.).
