Insurer: Vessel Owner Is Not Covered Under Employer’s Policy
(February 9, 2016, 8:15 AM EST) -- NEW ORLEANS — The Louisiana Oilfield Anti-Indemnity Act (LOAIA) applies to a case in which a worker was injured while removing a production platform at a decommissioned oil well, the insurer of the owner of the vessel from which that worker was working when he was injured argues in an appellant reply brief filed Oct. 14 in the Fifth Circuit U.S. Court of Appeals (Tetra Technologies, Incorporated, et al. v. Continental Insurance Company, No. 15-30446, 5th Cir.).
