12.7 Million Individuals Enroll In ACA Insurance, HHS Reports

(February 8, 2016, 12:38 PM EST) -- WASHINGTON, D.C. — The 2016 Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act (ACA) saw 12.7 million U.S. citizens secure health insurance through the marketplaces, the Department of Health and Human Services said Feb. 4.

The 12.7 million represent a decrease from the 17.6 million individuals who had coverage through the ACA in summer 2015.

Estimates

Original estimates suggested up to 24 million people could be receiving coverage through the ACA within just a few years.
