Athletic Company Asks High Court To Reject Copyrights On Cheerleader Uniforms

(January 28, 2016, 4:20 PM EST) -- WASHINGTON, D.C. — Congress never intended garments to be protected by copyrights, Star Athletica LLC argues in a Jan. 5 petition urging the U.S. Supreme Court to reverse a ruling that cheerleading uniforms can be copyrighted (Star Athletica, LLC v. Varsity Brands, Inc., et al., No. 15-866, U.S. Sup.).
