11th Circuit Panel Affirms Ruling In ‘Attorney Letters’ Securities Fraud Suit

(January 26, 2016, 4:02 PM EST) -- NEW ORLEANS — Without providing any detail, an 11th Circuit U.S. Court of Appeals panel on Jan. 13 affirmed a federal district court’s grant of summary judgment to the Securities and Exchange Commission in a securities fraud suit brought by the SEC alleging that an attorney issued false and misleading “attorney letters” for a client (Securities and Exchange Commission v. Stewart A. Merkin, No. 13-13929, 11th Cir.).
