U.S. Supreme Court Will Hear Case Addressing Recall Of Jurors

Mealey's (January 21, 2016, 1:04 PM EST) -- WASHINGTON, D.C. — The U.S. Supreme Court on Jan. 19 granted a petition for certiorari in an auto accident case in which a judge recalled the jury to restart deliberations after the jury had been dismissed (Rocky Dietz v. Hillary Bouldin, No. 15-458, U.S. Sup.).

The question presented is “[w]hether, after a judge has discharged a jury from service in a case and the jurors have left the judge’s presence, the judge may recall the jurors for further service in the same case.”
