Federal Judge Dismisses Philip Morris, Enters Final Judgment In Tobacco Suit

(January 19, 2016, 12:43 PM EST) -- JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — A federal appellate judge assigned to preside over an Engle progeny suit in Florida on Jan. 6 entered final judgment based on a jury verdict in favor of R.J. Reynolds Tobacco Co. and dismissed the claims against another tobacco company in a suit brought by a man who claimed that he developed a chronic disease from his years of smoking (William Hecht v. R.J. Reynolds Tobacco Company, et al., No. 3:09cv11228, M.D. Fla.; 2016 U.S. Dist. LEXIS 1910).
