Judge Issues Final Ruling; Oil Company Dismissed From MTBE Contamination Case

(January 14, 2016, 2:38 PM EST) -- NEW YORK — A federal judge in New York on Dec. 31 granted a defendant oil company’s motion for a final judgment declaring that it has been dismissed from litigation relating to groundwater contamination from the gasoline additive methyl tertiary butyl ether (MTBE), ruling that personal jurisdiction is lacking (In re: Methyl Tertiary Butyl Ether [MTBE] Products Liability Litigation, MDL 1358, Commonwealth of Puerto Rico v. Shell Oil Co., et al., Nos. 07-10470, 14-1014, S.D. N.Y.).
