Government Seeks Dismissal Of Tribe’s Suit Over Program Restructuring
(January 13, 2016, 3:38 PM EST) -- SIOUX FALLS, S.D. — A Native American tribe’s lawsuit against the federal government seeking to halt a restructuring of the Bureau of Indian Education (BIE) should be dismissed for several reasons, including lack of jurisdiction and the existence of duplicative litigation, the government says in a Dec. 21 brief filed in South Dakota federal court (Cheyenne River Sioux Tribe v. Sally Jewell, et al., No. 15-3018, D. S.D.).
