Judge Denies Hedge Fund Founder’s Motion For Release From ‘Half-Way House’
(January 12, 2016, 8:52 AM EST) -- NEW YORK — A federal judge in New York on Dec. 30 denied a motion for release from a “half-way house” filed by hedge fund founder Douglas F. Whitman pending appeal of a conviction for his role in an insider trading scheme, ruling that Whitman failed to show any extraordinary circumstances that would permit such release (United States of America v. Doug Whitman, No. 12-cr-125, S.D. N.Y.; 2015 U.S. Dist. LEXIS 173887).
