(January 11, 2016, 11:01 AM EST) -- SAN FRANCISCO — A federal district court properly granted a default judgment against the Arab Republic of Egypt under the Employee Retirement Income Security Act for denial of medical benefits, the Ninth Circuit U.S. Court of Appeals ruled Dec. 18 in an unpublished opinion (Mohamed E. Lasheen v. Embassy of the Arab Republic of Egypt, et al., No. 13-17143, 9th Cir.; 2015 U.S. App. LEXIS 22117).
