Canadian Entities Pursue NAFTA Arbitration Against Over Pipeline Application
(January 8, 2016, 11:00 AM EST) -- WASHINGTON, D.C. — Two Canadian entities on Jan. 6 filed a notice of arbitration against the U.S. government for violation of the North American Free Trade Agreement (NAFTA), seeking $15 billion in damages in relation to their investment in a crude oil pipeline (TransCanada Corporation & TransCanada PipeLines Limited v. The Government of The United States, NAFTA).
